Before heading back to the educational grind, you’ll want to revamp your skincare routine to keep you fresh all semester. Here are 4 great ways to get your skin poppin’ for the school year.

Scrub it Up

If you’re having trouble with dullness and dead skin, you should also utilize exfoliation in your skincare routine this school year. Apply a natural exfoliating scrub to your face and body to gently remove rough, flaky skin cells and other built-up dirt hidden in your pores. Exfoliation allows your pores to not be blocked, thus enabling other skincare products to successfully penetrate and refresh your face. It is also good for minimizing pores and reducing acne breakouts. Making this a weekly ritual will allow for your skin to maintain a polished, radiant glow.

Mask On, Mask Off

Implementing a face mask to your collection of skincare products is another great way to rejuvenate your skin. Choosing and applying the right face mask can help detoxify your skin, giving you a deep cleanse to really pull out impurities. Facial masks are also good for hydrating your skin and stimulating blood circulation to bring out a fresh, revitalized look for your skin. You might even want to make taking care of your skin fun by using your mask for relaxation purposes or as a social event with friends (e.g. “movies and masks night”). Any way you decide to use it, a purifying mask will undoubtedly enhance your skincare regimen. A great option is the ILERA Apothecary Clarifying Face Mask

Cleanse Day and Night

Washing your face in the morning and before bed can make a big difference in the overall health of your skin. It is best to do a double cleanse by first using an oil-based cleanser to remove surface oils and other grime (makeup, sunscreen, etc.) you put on during the day. Then you should follow up with a gentle cleanser that will not strip the skin’s natural moisture. To finish, use a hydrating serum mist or a few drops of your favorite oil to seal in moisture and give you a clean, fresh look. Stay Thirsty Friends

We know, We know… the temptation to drink a cold soda or a Venti Frappuccino from Starbucks is ever-alluring after a long day or during an early morning, but honestly, your best bet is to just drink water. Studies show that an increased intake of water improves skin softness and smoothness and prevents dryness in skin. It is recommended to drink at least 64 ounces of water per day (eight 8 ounce glasses). Staying properly hydrated does wonders for our bodies, so fill up and watch your skin “glo-up”.
